Our story.

Kyler grew up in Salem, Oregon.
He loves family vacations, fishing and sports - particularly football and basketball, both of which he has played since third grade.
He is a serious University of Oregon Ducks football fan.
He is often caught researching other cultures and planning future vacations.
He can be won over by a wam slice of apple pie.
He refers to himself as a "traditionalist" keeping certain activities for many of the holidays and seasons of the year.
His music of choice is hip hop – specifically Christian rap.
He has grown up with a tight friend group that remains his best friends today.
Katrina grew up in Vancouver, Washington.
She loves family vacations, fishing and sports - just joking about the sports. She likes how Kyler gets fired up watching a football game though.
She went back and forth between wanting to be a ballerina and construction worker as a child.
She enjoyed track and field in and was editor of the school paper in high school.
She can be won over by a green bean casserole.
Her music of choice is sappy country love songs or screamo.
She has had the same best friend since she was five years old.
She is a writer by definition and hopes her writing takes her somewhere she can help improve lives.
They started as freshmen in college.
Katrina saw Kyler as simply the guy who worked out. Kyler had a class with Katrina and thought she raised her hand too much.
Today, Katrina loves Kyler’s healthy lifestyle and Kyler loves Katrina’s ability to discuss any topic.
Eventually, Katrina and Kyler spent late nights chatting in the lobby of the dorm building they called home. Their nights of flirting progressed in going on dates and Kyler soon expressed his feelings to her. They met each other's parents and continued to rush through homework to have frozen yogurt together. Kyler would have to run to class from walking Katrina to hers.
Kyler was intrigued with Katrina from the start of knowing her.
“Almost instantly I noticed her world didn’t revolve around her,” he said. “She genuinely cared for people – her selfless heart is so amazing.”
For Katrina, her love for Kyler began with the safety she felt.
“I knew he was honest and trustworthy from the start,” she said. “I don’t have to worry if he means what he says. He has integrity and a strength of character that I can easily commit to.”
Both Kyler and Katrina admit that their commitment to marry each other happened faster than they thought it would. But it didn’t take long to know.
After about a year and a half of dating, Kyler took Katrina on a “memory lane” day through important locations they’ve been to as their relationship progressed. The couple reminisced on how they have grown.
The road trip throughout the locations ended with Kyler on his knee, shaking but unsure if he could remember the speech he had rehearsed. Katrina wouldn’t have heard it anyway. She answered “yes,” after only a few words of talking. A little embarrassed by that today, it was a moment Katrina had been waiting for and her eagerness couldn’t wait for a speech.

Her favorite:
Lamentations
3:22-23
"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; They are new every morning;
great is Your faithfulness."
The couple has a commitment of always being humble and bold enough to correct the other person.
“She challenges me to be a better me, and allows me to do the same for her,” Kyler said. “We’re both growing in our walk with the Lord and in our relationship with each other. It’s an awesome friendship we have that allows us to challenge each other with an honest heart.”
Katrina adores Kyler’s sense of humor and Kyler adores Katrina’s laugh so that works out well.
The two desire to travel frequently together and are eager to be married and face the challenges of being a young married couple together.
“There is nobody else I want to struggle with,” they often joke.
